Check out the CCSS winter newsletter for info on our after-school programs, youth centre, upcoming events and community programs for all ages.

This winter we are offering a variety of free after-school programs for grade K to 9 students including Games Club, Knitting, Theatre, Short Story Writing, Floor Hockey and more. Our drop in Youth Centre continues to be open 3 days a week for youth in grades 6 to 10. We also provide programs and learning opportunities for adults including Mamacentric (a support group for moms with young children), weekly bingo nights, and a beginner painting class!

CCSS is working hard to meet the needs of our rapidly growing and changing community. The Village of Cumberland has seen a 10.4% growth in population over the past 5 years. Over this same time period, enrollment at Cumberland Community School has increased by 25%! This has resulted in a significant increase in demand for our programs. We are currently serving 3,200 meals/month (up from 1,700 meals/month last year) and 21% of these are subsidized. This winter we are offering 14 different after-school programs with spots available for 172 students. Our Youth Centre continues to be popular with an average of 16 youth attending each day and up to 50 youth on special event nights.

Our programs are made possible through grants, donations, fundraising efforts and dedicated volunteers. If you are interested in learning more or volunteering your time in the kitchen, with after-school programs or special events, please fill out the form on page 6, or contact Sue Loveless at ccss.coordinator@gmail.com, 250-336-8511 ext. 76611

We look forward to another fantastic year of working with our community to offer high-quality, accessible programming.
