Students working together to make their school and community more sustainable.
The CCSS Environment Club is a group of students ages 7 to 12 that meet once a week with the Environment Program Coordinator. The main focus of the club is to maintain the Community Garden and work to reduce waste at the school. Students also take part in community projects that help to educate the public on the importance of keeping our watersheds clean. Last year students took part in a clean up of the Cumberland Marsh and marked storm-drains with yellow fish to remind us that these drains empty directly into local streams. The Club also hosts guest speakers from the community who share their expert knowledge on natural history and environmental issues.
Environment Club is currently looking for volunteers to help maintain our Community Garden. Volunteers are also needed to help supervise the Cumberland Walking School Bus on Wednesday mornings.
